GraviTrax’s Road to Success

Success story
January 2017: Kick-off with VIPs
At the Nuremberg Toy Fair press preview, the German presenters and comedians Bernhard Hoëcker and Wigald Boning first introduce the new “Game with Gravity.”
February 2017: The first award
The Association of the German Toy Industry takes a look at all of the new products at the fair and nominates GraviTrax as one of the “Top 10 Toys.”
July 2017: The public debut
During the GraviTrax Challenge at seven game festivals in Germany, children and their parents become fascinated for the first time by the concept of building with tracks, height tiles and innovative action accessories even before their market launch.
September 2017: Brilliant beginnings in retail
On the first of September, one starter set and six expansion sets first hit the stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It quickly becomes a top seller. At the same time, the GraviTrax app for iOS and Android goes live – for cool ideas when you’re on the move or, with the right glasses and smartphone, in virtual reality.
November 2017: Sold out!
Right before Christmas, it’s no longer possible to buy GraviTrax in many places. As a result, the sets are traded online at premium prices.
January 2018: XXL replenishment
The most enthusiastic builders can’t get enough and Ravensburger responds with the Starter Set XXL. It includes 400 individual components (instead of 100) as well as base plates, height tiles, plastic tracks and a broad assortment of unique action accessories.
July 2018: A wedding veil as an action accessory?
The designers at Ravensburger are constantly experimenting with creative ideas and materials to create prototypes. One example involves a discarded wedding veil, which was used to develop the action accessory “trampoline” to help accelerate approaching balls.
August 2018: World record in Berlin
Ravensburger builds the world’s biggest GraviTrax run: With the young marble track pro and Youtuber Jelle Bakker (Jelle’s Marble Runs), a mega run is created in the Galeria Kaufhof department store on Alexanderplatz in one and a half weeks that is more than 800 feet long (246 meters) and includes more than 20,000 individual components and countless action features.

The marble track goes beyond the German-speaking realm and impresses the neighboring countries Belgium and the Netherlands. It is now possible to buy it in Italy, France, the United Kingdom as well as Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark.
September 2018: A leap to the US and Down Under
The best seller now conquers the US and Australia.
October 2018: GraviTrax as a teaching aid?
Two dedicated teachers in Esslingen experiment with using the marble track to teach physics to eighth graders. Their results: Actively using the tracks and action accessories gives the students a much better understanding of how kinetics, gravity and magnetism work. And motivates them to learn!
November 2018: Award winning!
In Belgium and the Netherlands, GraviTrax receives the award “Speelgoed van het Jaar” (Game of the Year). In the United Kingdom and the US, GraviTrax is highly acclaimed on educational internet platforms for parents.
December 2018: Stellar sales developments
Ravensburger has sold 55 million height tiles at this point. If you were to stack them all, they would create a tower with a height of more than 340 miles (550 km). By way of comparison, the International Space Station is about 250 miles (400 km) from Earth.
January 2019: “Game of the Year” three more times in Europe
GraviTrax is declared “Zabawka Roku” in Poland and “Årets Leksak 2019” in Sweden. The Italians also dub the German marble track the “Toy Of The Year 2018.”
October 2019: GraviTrax wins over the world
Starting in fall, the best seller will not only be available in Israel, Iceland, Norway, Finland, the Baltic region, Greece and Turkey, but also in the United Arab Emirates, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
