FSS Due Diligence Webinar Series: Hands-On Risk Assessment

The first online event of our FSS Due Diligence Webinar Series on 29th November 2022 explores how the FSS tools can be used to identify human rights risks within a thorough Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) management system. We will also put the FSS context of the upcoming German Due Diligence act under the guidance of a legal consultant. Particular focus is set on potential adverse impacts on food security, how the human right to food relates to other human rights and how to weigh and prioritize risks companies can be confronted with.

The series follows the OECD HRDD process for responsible business conduct and presents practical tools to support the process:
In June 2021 the Federal German Parliament approved the German Supply Chain Act which will come into force in January 2023. Additionally, the European Commission submitted a proposal for a directive on corporate sustainability due diligence. But what does it mean for the players in global agricultural supply chains? Which challenges do companies have to prepare for?
Given the circumstances, anchoring human rights like the Right to Adequate Food and environmental considerations in companies’ operations and corporate governance can be a challenging task. Practical instruments, especially to monitor compliance with human rights are needed to prove adherence to the requirements.
